  16.         * Some portions of the Virus Central user's manual use the
  17.           IBM extended characters. Be aware of this if the printout of
  18.           the manual looks funny.

  21.         * The virus list contains the viruses that apply to CleanUp 80.
  22.           If a newer version of the CleanUp program is released, you may
  23.           add on the newer viruses to this list. Whenever new versions
  24.           of Virus Central will be released, the virus list will be
  25.           amended to reflect the most current version of CleanUp.

  28.         * You may use the VALIDATE.COM program (included with your copy
  29.           of ViruScan and/or CleanUp) to test the integrity of Virus
  30.           Central. Take note that the share-ware and registered user's
  31.           versions of the program yield different results, because of
  32.           the share-ware notice on the latter.

  69.         As can be expected with ANY program, particularly the first
  70.         releases, there will ALWAYS be bugs. Virus Central is no
  71.         exception. MANY bugs have been reported since Virus Central
  72.         1.00, and I have found a few, myself. As the program is further
  73.         developed and bugs are ironed out, the version numbers will
  74.         increase. I have decided to do away with my earlier practice of
  75.         attaching letters to the version numbers of new releases since
  76.         it causes confusion. I will, instead, adjust the version number
  77.         to reflect the magnitude of modification.

  85.         v3.00 (07/20/91) << MODIFIED CONFIGURATION FILE FORMAT >>
  86.         This release marks a first in Virus Central's short history; a
  87.         revision made to the program that was first approved by its
  88.         registered user base. Registered users were sent vote forms and
  89.         asked to approve the replacement of "Clean drive ..." Quick-Keys
  90.         with the more powerful "Scan drive ..." Quick-Keys. Well, the
  91.         overwhelming majority approved the change, so goodbye "Clean"
  92.         keys! You can now set up to four "Scan" Quick-Keys, which is
  93.         really more powerful since you usually scan the disk and rely on
  94.         Central's Clean Up sequence to do the dirty work. Chances are,
  95.         the "Clean" Quick-Keys will not even be missed.

  97.         Another interesting change, that should be welcome to a lot of
  98.         you, is that Virus Central now supports NetScan. Before you go
  99.         looking on the screen for another menu, let me warn you that
  100.         there isn't one; the old "Virus Scan" Menu has been renamed to
  101.         "Virus/Net Scan" menu, as both ViruScan and NetScan are accessed
  102.         from this menu. This "shared" menu approach minimizes clutter on
  103.         the screen and improves program efficiency.

  105.         The last, but certainly not the least, revision to the program
  106.         is the addition of an "Auto Scan" mode. The Auto Scan mode makes
  107.         it possible to specify a list of disk drives for Virus Central
  108.         to scan immediately after execution. You can even make Central
  109.         automatically return to DOS after it completes scanning (and
  110.         disinfecting, if necessary) these disk drives. This feature
  111.         makes it easy to launch the program from a batch file, possibly
  112.         from the AUTOEXEC.BAT file.
  113.  
  114.         The remaining changes to the program were very minor bug fixes.
  115.         Since not too many people called in to complain about them, I
  116.         figure not too many people noticed.

  121.          text file format to the much quicker random access file format.
